Spring and Summer Skincare Tips for Troubled Skin

Meigan J. writes, ” I have combination skin, occasionally breakout – especially when stressed, wrinkles are pronounced around and under my eyes – made worse when I smile or laugh and I have serious discoloration and uneven skin tone. I’ve been using Avon Anew Alternative Intensive Age Treatment cream at night to help with the patchy skin tone and crepey looking skin. In the morning I use the Avon Anew Alternative Intensive Age with SPF 25. I love these Avon products and have been happy with the results but lately my skin feels oilier than normal and I swear my pores are looking larger and some appear to be clogged. My best friend tells me that I need to lighten up my skincare treatments as the weather warms up. Do I need to have a seasonal skin care products?”

Hi Meigan,

Thank you for your question. Your friend is correct. As the temperature and humidity outdoors rises then you probably don’t need a very rich skincare cream as part of your morning routine. I’m a fan of Avon Anew Alternative Intensive Age Treatment with SPF 25 but it does feel quite heavy for Spring or Summer use – I’d save it for late fall and winter usage. I would recommend using an oil-free age-reversing anti-oxidant skin treatment product such as Neova Day Therapy SPF 20 (rebuilds collagen and improves skin tone and texture) or SkinCeuticals Vitamin C Serum 15 AOXicon (great for evening out skin tone, rebuilding collagen, improving skin clarity and repairing sun damage) in the morning while continuing the Avon Anew Alternative Intensive Age Treatment cream in the evenings (before bed).

Don’t fear using a sunscreen because it may be too greasy. There are many products that incorporate sun protection like the Neova Day Therapy SPF 20. If the product you choose doesn’t, you should add it as the layer before your foundation. There are many good oil-free sunscreens on the market. I’m partial to BodyGuard Oil-Free sunscreen from DERMAdoctor – but there are plenty to choose from so you should have no problem finding one to fit your needs.

For specific problem areas such as the wrinkles around your eyes you may want to consider DERMAdoctor Wrinkle Revenge Eye Balm, Neova Eye Therapy Serum
icon or Olay Regenerist Eye Serum; they are light-weight, non-greasy products that deliver results.

Now I go out in the sun fearlessly and my skin is still smooth and fair. Thank you!
