Breakthrough in Acne Treatment

Acne Assassin has written an interesting article regarding a German study which found the use of

“synthetically created phytosphingosine [which when ] topically applied … boost the skins natural defense properties.

Phytosphingosine is a member of the active lipids found in the skins surface that play an important role in anti-microbial defense, as well as displaying important anti-inflammatory functions. The hypoallergenic nature of this new acne treatment, no long term side effects and the combination of anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties of Phytosphingosine should be a nice change than the “peels” that are currently available and can have undesirable side effects and healing time for the skin. These products would be available in over-the-counter creams and lotions, having some serious competition in the already flooded market.” (read the the story at Acne Assassin)

If this is true then it will signal a breakthrough in the treatment of this emotionally devastating and physically disfiguring skin disease

hi ms. distressed derma, i think your site is fabulous. your reviews are quite thorough. i read about your acne issues and i too had worse acne when i turned 20. after trying acne washes and oil-free moisturizers my skin looked irritated and i still had pimples. i decided to try the natural route. i use a natural soap and jojoba oil. my skin has never been better. i still get some hormonal acne, but not too bad. and i don’t really do anything else for my skin. check out the reviews at : http://www.acne.org/jojoba-oil-reviews/156/page1.html

sorry this is not really about the article above.

    good luck to you!
