5 Tips for Younger Looking Skin – How to Look 10 Years Younger Series

With so many amazing technological and scientific breakthroughs in the world of skin care and beauty, it’s now a relatively easy process to look younger than your actual age. Here are five tips that will help you get smooth, youthful, luminous skin:

  1. Exfoliate! This is the number one skin care process that you must do every single day to remove dull old skin, minimize fine lines and wrinkles, keep your pores nice and tight, and skin glowing. As we age skin cells turnover less and less, and over time the cellular debris creates a “skin mask” that hides the new, healthy skin that lays beneath it. Exfoliating with an excellent glycolic beauty cream like MD Formulations Continuous Renewal Complex will keep skin looking healthy and younger. Continued use of a glycolic cream will result in less visible wrinkles and almost complete eradication of fine lines. Visible results can be seen in about three weeks with continued use. The longer the glycolic cream is used the more pronounced the “age reversal”.
  2. Sunscreen – the sun will age you, no ifs, buts or whatevers. Just apply it and long term your skin will look younger. It’s really that simple. Our favorite is DERMAdoctor Body Guard Exquisitely Light SPF 30.
  3. Brighten your Face – nothing screams old lady like age spots and discolored, dull skin. Use a skin brightener to bring back youthful luminosity to your skin. Our favorite over the counter:DERMAdoctor Immaculate Correction Revitalizing Skin Tone Equalizer. A stronger prescription favorite: Tri-Luma – do note that Tri-Luma has retinol and may not be advised for sensitive skins. Also Tri-Luma contains a steroid and can only be used for eight weeks (no more) and under doctor supervision because it thins out the skin dramatically. Whether you opt for the over the counter or prescription skin brightener you must religiously use sunscreen during treatment and then after treatment to keep the skin looking fabulous!
  4. No more sagging skin and tell-tale jowls when you treat your skin with copper peptides. Skin care products which contain powerful combinations of copper pepptides and other anti-oxidants have been shown to help rebuild collagen, giving skin the tighter, more lifted appearance that is commonly found in younger skin. Our favorites: Blue Silk Creme and NEOVA anti-oxidant serum and NEOVA eye gel.
  5. Apply tips 1- 4 to your neck, decollete and hands because nothing gives away your age faster than a crepey neck, wrinkled decollete and age-spotted hands.

I actually decided to try out these tips and see how they work out. Well I must say I am happy with the results. The only thing I changed was that I didnt Exfoliate everyday, I thought that would make my skin to sensitive, so i did that every 3 days.

I did all the other steps as mentioned and they really work. Great work, keep it up.

Those are some great tips there, especially the one about sunscreen since photodamage is the main contributor to premature skin aging. Just a minor addition… anyone who’s interested in looking young should also stop smoking as it has been shown to accelerate skin aging.

I do actually do a mild exfolliation daily and a deeper one once a week. I was told by my dermatologist that it was actually harmful to exfolliate too often as it can create thinning of the skin? Ever heard of that before? I suppose if you are doing some deep deep exfoliation, but I found it interesting either way.

Sunscreen is definitely the underrated one here … it’s something that’s so easy to take care of, but we never think to do it until much later … sometimes after the damage is done.

    Slip slop slap!

The neck tip is great. My fiancee is all into skin care, but she seems to work only on her face. She’s using one of Clarins cream product. Seems to work so far. I’ll have to ask her to use these tips on her neck as well.

    Anti Aging Solution Says:

You are so right, exfoliation is key to having vibrant glowing skin! Did you ever wonder why so many older people have a grayish looking pallor – it’s all dead skin cells on the surface! That being said, I think you do have to be careful to do it gently or risk doing more harm than good.

    Skin health nut Says:

I’ve heard that too much exfoliation can cause the skin to age faster as it exposes the fresh young skin to the elements.
