I have crazy hair, really, I do. I have the oiliest of scalps – my scalp produces so much oil on a daily basis that I can not skip daily shampoos. I wake up to a horrifying mess of hair every morning: oily roots plastered to my scalp and Medusa like dry strands sticking out in all directions. If I don’t shampoo daily, I would be mistaken for hair-deranged, former Hollywood superstars (yes, I’m referring to Nick Nolte’s and Cybil Shepard’s, bad hair moments).
My hair stylist is constantly shaking his finger at me because I shampoo too often – which leads me to my crazy hair dilemma. I jokingly call my hair bi-polar because it’s so greasy on top and bone dry at the bottom, and never have I been able to reach a happy medium.
My stylist suggested, “If you must shampoo daily” then use a gentle but “tough on oil” shampoo on the scalp alone. Followed by conditioner on the ends while avoiding my scalp – my hair stylist has shown me the fine art of strategically placing the moisture rich conditioner where it needs to be. It’s helped a bit but I would end up with difficult to style rough textured roots that were matted and tangled while the ends were very smooth, silky and soft. My scalp and hair were clean but still bi-polar; Instead of the greasy scalp I awoke to in the morning with straw-like ends, I had a crown of dull, lifeless, limp hair on top and shiny, softer hair on the ends.
Enter into my life a request to review ECRU Silk Nectar Serum; A serum I thought, “Great now i’ll have greasy roots and greasy ends”. Visions of my previous oil-slicked encounter with other hair serums run through my mind.
The Beauty Promise: ECRU’s Silk Nectar Serum, promises to: give high-shine, protect against split-ends; nourish and minimize pesky fly-away strands – doing so without a heavy greasy feel. The serum is also supposed to be great for nourishing dry scalps, but since Mother Nature “blessed” me with my own natural serum I decided not to test that claim on my oily scalp. I did however test the other stated product benefits.
Did ECRU Silk Nectar Serum Work?: I shampooed as I normally do, but didn’t use conditioner-just skipped that step all together. On towel-tried hair I applied a very tiny (less than the size of an M&M) drop of serum to my ends. I then ran my hands and fingers through the rest of my hair to better distribute the Silk Nectar Serum. I styled as I normally do, and when finished all of my hair looked healthier, shinier and unexpectedly, bouncier than I’d seen it in a very long time. My hair had that bouncy, shiny look it does after a blow-out at the salon -that’s a good thing. There was: no greasy residue; no heavy, weighed down feeling; and no discernible difference in smoothness between the roots and ends (which previously was a problem due to my using conditioner only on the ends). I still had some fly-aways, but much less than I normally do. I have color-treated hair and I noticed that my color appeared richer and more faceted after using the Serum – which gives the Silk Nectar Serum an added bonus in my beauty report card
Hopefully, using the serum over time will help keep my hair from being bi-polar (for good – a girl can hope
).

Whoa– maybe this is the product I’ve been looking for, really. It sounds like your problem is similar to mine, and my solution has also been to shampoo too much—- well, my scalp felt dirty! I think I’d heard of this product before but forgot the name of it, so I appreciate the post.
It’s a bit spendy, but it would be worth it if it works as advertised! —Tom

Thanks so much! This might be the product for my granddaughter as she has the same problem. I’m going to send this website to my daughter so she can read it. My granddaughter has beautiful hair but has the same problem with hers. Is this the only place that carries this product or can you buy it somewhere else? We live in Florida and it might cost alot to have it shipped here from NY.
