The gals at The Beauty Brains have a link to an amazing video which depicts the “evolution” of a plain woman with blemishes and all into a stunning beauty. It’s not just make-up and hair that make her beautiful it’s more – just watch the video(I’ve embedded the YouTube version here) and see for yourself.
It makes me feel slightly better knowing that the ads we see are doctored for the most part but having said that it doesn’t make me feel any prettier – I can’t over come the feeling I have of being less than pretty because my skin is in a constant state of chaos.
Can’t see the embedded video? Here’s the Dove Commercial at YouTube.
I was interested in how often these perfect images we are bombarded with are modified or made better. To my surprise I found quite a few blogs that discussed the art of digitally remastering the imperfect into the impossibly perfect. My favorite article was from Digit-Blogs – they start their article off with quite an appropriate quote:
Submitted by Ms. distressedDERMA on Friday, 20 October 2006Life isn’t perfect – unless you’re a professional image manipulator with the power to alter reality. Digit spoke to the best in the business.
