Blue Silk Creme (Nutritive Perfection) Review

Update: Blue Silk Creme review feedback from our tester in her early sixties is in. Remember she was unhappy with the very aged look of her neck. We now have a before and after – two weeks into her trial with Blue Silk Creme. We could write a whole bunch of text and tell you what a terrific product Blue Silk creme is for repairing mature skin, but we won’t. We’ll let the images do the talking.

Blue Silk Creme for aging skin

She hasn’t been faithful about using the cream twice a day, which makes the before and after photos even more remarkable and a testament to the restorative elements of Blue Silk creme – can you imagine how much better her skin would be if she followed a disciplined skin care regimen?

Blue Silk Creme retails for $32 for 1.75 oz and is available online at bluesilk.net.

Original Blue Silk Creme Review post from March 14th 2008:

We had two product testers review the Blue Silk Creme. Ms. distressedDERMA (your’s truly, in her 30s), who regulars know, has very sensitive, blemish prone skin and major anti-aging concerns. Our second tester is a 63 year old with serious concerns about her neck skin which over time has lost elasticity and has become quite wrinkled in appearance. This has been a big concern for her since her facial skin has the tone and smoothness of a woman in her 40s but her neck is giving her true age away.

The first review by Ms. distressedDERMA is complete and in about eight weeks (with updates at the four/five week mark) we will be able to show our second tester’s results and her opinion of the product for use on more mature skin.

Ms. distressedDERMA’s Review

This little jar of blue therapeutic moisturizing cream holds many a surprise: it’s skin calming, lightweight and fast absorbing yet still has a very elegant texture, fragrance-free, paraban free and mineral oil free ( a biggie for those of us who fight clogged pores daily-we don’t need the extra pore clog makers) and leaves skin feeling smooth and hydrated for hours.

Blue Silk Creme’s ingredient list reads like a cosmaceutical anti-aging potion infused with herb and plant extracts, vitamins, Shea butter and marine emollients. There’s age-reversing copper, essential amino-acids, and MSMs which help skin create collagen and elastin – two key factors in maintaining a youthful appearance and repairing wounded skin. Then there’s a veritable cornucopia of soothing and healing agents (over 200 biologically active compounds) – listed below are some that I found interesting:

  • Aloe Vera – to calm and soothe inflamed skin.
  • Primrose Oil - to increase circulation to flush out skin toxins and keep pores clean.
  • Vitamin E and Licorice Root – to reduce effects and appearance of skin scarring, stretch marks and uneven skin tone.
  • Jojoba Oil - to restore pH levels to skin while hydrating and restoring cell volume and elasticity.
  • Vitamin C – to provide strong anti-oxidant protection to skin.
  • Mango Butter – to protect skin from the damaging over-exposure to the Sun’s UV rays.

I started using the Blue Silk Nutritive Perfection Creme in February (in the mornings only) and continued to use it for a total of five weeks. I used the creme on the left side of my face, neck, decollete (stretch marks) and on my left hand – which has started to show some concerning signs of aging.

I immediately liked the non-greasy, light texture of the creme and noticed that it quickly disappeared into the skin leaving no sticky or greasy residue.

I have a few surface level wrinkles on my forehead, under my eyes and around my upper lip. They are faint lines but when my skin is dehydrated they become quite visible – specially after applying foundation. The Blue Silk creme helped create a primer on my skin so when I applied foundation my skin looked supple and smoother.

I liked this therapeutic beauty cream as a facial cream but where I saw improvement over time was on my hand and neck. The skin on the back of my hand looked plumped, smooth, resilient – and the texture was so much better than that of my right hand which was being treated by Cellex-C Sea Silk Oil-Free Moisturizer (marine emollient based product). The neck skin also looked plumper and less thin and it recovered from movement based creasing much better.

Since I don’t have deep wrinkles I can’t speak to the Blue Silk Creme’s efficacy in rejuvenating serious aging issues, however, there will be another review of this product by a tester with more mature skin. But you don’t have to wait for that review to see if it will work for you. The company that manufacturers Blue Silk Creme provides free samples ( a week’s worth) so I would encourage visiting their site and requesting a sample.

I began using Blue Silk creme about a year ago, after seeing your review here, and many thanks for turning me on to it. It’s the best cream I’ve ever tried (I’ve used La Mer, among others) and I’ve already gotten at least one friend addicted in turn.

Unfortunately this past week I have been unable to find the Blue Silk website anymore – the domain name has been “registered” but the website doesn’t exist! – and I’m panicking that I’ll never be able to find the cream again! Do you have any information? Has the company gone under? Will it be back? I’m crossing my fingers…

Update: I’m thrilled to discover the Blue Silk website has returned after several months’ absence from the internet, hopefully to stay! During its absence I checked at least once a week, because I LOVE THIS CREAM and have been underwhelmed in my search for a replacement. I’ve stocked up on four jars already, budget be damned. Yay!
