Back Away From The Magnifying Mirror

I know that we are bombarded by the media with images of perfection and we make things worse by nitpicking every single flaw we have when we should be looking at the whole picture. When you move away from the magnifying mirror you see the whole picture and that picture is beautiful.

I am making a promise to myself today that I will look at me – the whole person – and be thankful of all that I am. Will you too?

The title of your post reminds me of when I went to LA a few weeks ago and the hotel had a magnifying mirror. UGH! I spent so much time looking in that stupid mirror, noticing all of these “horrible” things on my face I never noticed before. Luckily I don’t have one at my house!!!! I would go crazy!

The hotel we were at also had those terrible magnifying mirrors – like you I discovered flaws that I can’t normally see using my regular mirror at home.

I have to say I felt uncomfortable knowing that my skin looked worse than I thought it did. I started to obsess about my skin when others stood too close. But after awhile I stopped beating myself up and let go (finally taking my own advice :) ).

I have to remind myself that no one, not even super-models, look like the air-brushed perfection on the cover of beauty and fashion magazines.
